Christian Bale as Batman, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man and now Edward Norton will be taking over the role of Bruce BannerThe Incredible Hulk in the 2008 sequel. This role was formerly played by Eric Bana in the first film adaptation directed by Ang Lee.
Marvel Studios production president Kevin Feige stated “Edward Norton is a rare talent and one of the most versatile actors in the business. His ability to transform into a particular role makes him the ideal choice to take on the character of Bruce Banner and the Hulk. Edward is perfectly suited to bring one of the most popular and important Marvel icons to the bigscreen in a new and exciting way.”
The sequel is being penned by Zak Penn (X2, X-Men: The Last Stand) and will not be as self-serious, making it more in line with the comic series and TV show. It will go back to the roots of The Hulk and detail the tortured Bruce Banner alluding authorities as he tries to discover a cure for his transformations into the green giant. Louis Letterier (The Transporter 2 and Unleashed) will be directing and the film is set to premiere on June 13, 2008.
